Park Hyatt Villa Magna

It was my second visit. Last time I came here as one of the Hyatt Family. This time, me, unfortunately no longer belong to Hyatt Family, returned to the hotel as a normal guest with little more synical point of view. As I entered the hotel, the aroma of the lobby reminded me of my last visit. That time, receptionist showed me a big smile and welcomed me.

The linen has changed in this 2 years. Last time, it was a classical flower printed on the linen. This time, the bed was covered with a simple white linen which add little bit of moderness. We arrived late so “turning down service” was already done. Red wine and some nuts are prepared in the room as welcome amenity.

The linen was very comfortable.

Working table. As you see, table, clock and lamps are all classical.

Often the case, five-star hotel in Europe has two sinks.

Amenities are not much but I like this cutton pot. I’m always wonder why there’s not tooth brush in hotels in Europe.

Bath tub is big enough but the shower was fixed on the wall and not so useful. I could tell that last rennovation is quite a while ago. There is a videt right next to the bath tub and also a toillet. It’s good that sink are seperated but overall, the bath area is not so convenient. The room is seperated by wooden door but can be seen from other room when you sit on the toillet!

Facilities become older. That is something all the hotels cannot avoid. Therefore, they have to rennovate time to time, even it’s cost a lot.

The facility of Villa Magna is good even though it has a smell of ages.

But what I concern the most during my stay is service. We were welcomed by receptionist who never smile to us. He was doing his work manually and from his work, I cannot feel any hospitality. Bell staff as well, no friendly greeting, no explanation about room. Of course, service standard in Europe is different from that of Asia but I know other hotels which is lower category but more friendly.

Service is everything. Even 3 star hotel, when there is a friendly atmosphere, the experience of the stay is almost same as 5 star.

I have to say that it’s location is not the best one in Madrid. They really have to think of the service otherwise they it’s a matter of time when occupancy drops down.
